FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

July 18, 2009

I’m sorry there was no Training Update yesterday as is our Friday tradition. Numerous real-life stressors have consumed any time and energy for training. Here’s the rundown of my personal stressful half-dozen.

1. My mom is still not fully recovered from the big heart scare from a couple months ago.

2. Despite a non-stop work schedule for months now, there have been some significant issues with cash flow. Indeed, about half my annual income hangs in the balance. I should know early next week, if at least a partial resolution is fulfilled.

3. My great aunt’s breast cancer is back after 40 years. I guess if you live long enough (she’s 93), those things happen.

4. Tom’s only uncle fell and broke his femur. A similar fall is what landed him in the nursing home in the first place. Surgery with pins etc was required.

5. My college roommate’s dad was diagnosed this week with stage 4 colon cancer. Having grown up without a dad, I have loads of respect and love for the really good ones out there.

6. Yesterday, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. We’re awaiting further tests and consults, but I can tell you that it’s infiltrating ductal carcinoma, and it’s spread into at least one lymph node.

That’s a lot for one girl and her dog to take in all at once.

So, you’ll have to forgive any absences here or in comments on your blogs.

  1. Wow, that’s a lot to deal with. Eros and I will be sending you lots of luv, and some precious Neo Nectar too. I don’t suppose an influx of puppy pics this weekend would help?! 😉

  2. Wow, sorry about all of that, sounds like some tough times for you. Hope things improve for you and that next week brings better news.

  3. Geez – I’m sorry about all the tough news. Hang in there – hopefully things will turn around for you and all those you care about!

  4. Man — sounds like one thing after another. Very sorry to hear of these troubles. I’ll be thinking of you and your family/friends.

  5. Thanks, gals. I got a note from my oldest friend in the world yesterday, and her mom likely has pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver. So, it’s rough news all around. Looks like we may have to set up days where we cook and freeze a bunch of meals so that all of us can eat well during the tough times.

  6. That’s a lot, I agree. I just don’t understand what’s going on lately with illnesses and money/job problems. Seems like everyone has something. I hope there are good prognosis coming for all.
