Amid the distractions of real life, I nearly missed the chance to spend a day learning more about fearful dogs. It’s a total fluke that I remembered last week, but I’m glad I did. I get to study with Nicole Wilde!
Saturday, June 12, I’ll spend the whole day at Humane Society of Boulder Valley, where we adopted Lilly and where my former co-workers from American Humane Association now run both the shelter and the veterinary hospital.
The humane society is hosting Nicole Wilde in their Training Center. Locals, you can register here, if you’d like to attend too.
The seminar is geared toward professional dog trainers, not the general public, so I fully expect to be one of few non-pros there. But, I figure attending the University of Dogs With Issues for six years now, thanks to Miss Lilly, probably makes me more than qualified to hear what Nicole has to say.
Hilary Lane, who was Lilly’s trainer at the shelter and our adoption counselor, plans to attend too, so we hope to do some serious dog smooching while we are there.
Stay tuned next week. I hope to share some of what I learn.
Hilary …. Strum ate some raw pizza dough that fermented in his tummy and got him a little tipsy.
Here is a link to Elayne’s post on that:

I’m looking forward to seeing you there, Roxanne! Dog smootching for sure!
And Elayne, you got Strummer drunk? Or did he learn to open the refrigerator and get a beer?
We’ve been trying to get Nicole on #dogtalk!
I’ll be sure to pass on Stummer’s wiggle butt to Hilary. You can count on me to keep his accidental dough-boozing a secret. (smirk)
Oh, and maybe you shouldn’t mention to her the part about how he got drunk.
Say Hi to Hilary for me and give her a big tail/butt wag from Strummer.
How exciting! I would love to go to something like this.. I’ve told Debbie Jacobs a couple of times that she should come to NYC for a seminar!
Wilde is one of the first resources I found when trying to learn how to help Kona. Very cool you get to take the class. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!
I hope so. Thx, Eric.
This will be a great seminar. Looking forward to “hearing” what you have to share!
