FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

July 21, 2009

Since mentally I only have enough bandwidth for required work, I thought I might entertain you with photos. This is Chester. He is a 2-year-old alpaca that I met a while back when Tom went to buy a used riding lawn mower (since our pastures are out of control this year with all the rain). While the men-folk did their thing, I made friends with Chester by hand-feeding him grass that he could not reach from his paddock. There were several older ones as well, but they were not as friendly, much bigger, and kind of freaked me out because their “fighting teeth” had grown in.

Chester was skittish about being petted, but he was happy to take grass from my hand, so I settled for that.

{The photos for this post got lost in a great blog photo glitch. I’m so sorry.}

I don't just love dogs. I need them in my life. Seriously.

  1. Really? The guy went on and on about the fleece, etc. Isn’t it alpaca fleece that’s supposedly so valuable? I could swear he said alpaca and not llama.

    Anyway, Chester was super sweet.

  2. Honey, Chester looks a lot more like a llama than an alpaca. (Though this could be the answer; give Lilly something to herd!)

  3. What a cutie. He looks quite satisfied with that mouthful of grass in the second photo. A little something to brighten my day.. it is raining here in Margeland, both literally and figuratively.

    Mental bandwith… I like that one. Plow on, Roxanne, hope your day goes well.
