Somehow, time is beginning to run out on this holiday season, so if you’re still trying to find something for fellow dog pals. Here are a few ideas.
Cathy Lester artwork on a variety of items
I first met Cathy while working on an article about agility handlers over 50. She too has smooth coat border collies. I consider Cathy a dog professional (breeder, handler, trainer, you name it), but her “real” career is as an artist and illustrator. On her Cafe Press product site, you can find breed-specific images, cartoons, items for horse lovers and many others. You can get any image on nearly anything — t-shirts, coffee mugs, calendars, clocks, mouse pads, whatever. There are many agility-related images, including holiday ones … like a dog stringing lights on weave poles and two dogs hanging stockings under the A Frame.
Concept-wise, I think my favorite is the cartoon captioned, “A dog is the only love money can buy.” And, considering our Champion of My Heart blog theme — hard work and hope — I also like this one:
These are done by Sally Brown, the friend of another writer I “know” online. Her t-shirt designs are quite glam for people who like dog stuff that isn’t overly cutesy. I particularly like the one that proclaims (in Italian) … “I kiss my dog on the lips.”
I’m a new fan of this blog about a dog who is a “mustachioed terrier mutt, with the bandy-legged gait of a cowpoke and the grizzled mug of a chuckwagon cook.” The artwork on the blog is really something. Some of the ideas have been put on t-shirts, including one that proudly states, “Mine’s a mutt.” Another shows a dog’s butt sticking up out of a hole in the ground, with the caption, “The truth is down there.” Very funny.
So, those are just a few ideas I thought I’d offer. Feel free to add your own.
Excellent. I’m tempted to do the same myself. ;o)
Wow – great choices! I just ordered from all 3 sites (and all for me 🙂 )!
