FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

November 13, 2007

Lilly is learning to be sweet to the mules next door. We’ve been training looking at them without barking or trying to get a rise out of them. If she looks or stays calms, then she gets treats. I even let her race them along the fence line, as long as she’s quiet. They seem to seek her out, sometimes standing at the fence looking for her. Yesterday, I called for her outside and found the cutest thing. I think she’s adopted them as her sheep.

She was laying in a perfect down, right near the fence, just watching the mules graze. But, when I went out to tell her she was a good girl, she barked and made them run away. Almost like she was showing off. So, I came back in. And, again, she settled in to watch her mules. I shot these photos through the kitchen window with as much telephoto as my camera could muster.

At one point, she even stuck her head through the cattle fencing and had her head right there. I didn’t catch that in a photo, but I took this just after she pulled her head back. You can’t really see in the photo, but she has a good relaxed body and a smiley face.
