If It’s Summer …
If it’s summer … it must mean that Lilly suddenly is terrified to come inside, but only in the evening. How many years now has this pattern emerged? Five, six years?

Novelist Allison Winn Scotch and her book agent Elisabeth Weed teamed up on this promotion to a) promote the JUNE 1st release of Allison’s newest book (The One That I Want) and b) get talented writers in front of Elisabeth.
Since Ginko is pretty much Sofa Captain, homebody, boy about the house, I forget what he is like in public. In a word: Unruly. It’s a good reminder for me when I get my rant on about people who have little control over their dogs and how that affects my sensitive Lilly Girl.
It’s been a LONG couple of days, so I only have energy for some quick medical updates. Here is the latest on Lilly’s health, Ginko’s health, and that dog emergency we witnessed last week.
With work and family things, I haven’t had much time to do any training with Lilly lately, but I wanted to share a behavior and health update from Lilly’s wellness exam this week with our “new” veterinarian.
Among other things I shared with our veterinarian on Monday during Lilly’s wellness exam is that Lilly broke a tooth last week while chewing on a bully stick I gave her for her birthday. How is that for making a Dog Mom feel like crap?
On Monday, Lilly went for her wellness exam. Lilly is fine (as far as I know right now), but the real-life dramas that played out in the lobby and general environs bruised my empathetic heart.
I’m WAY behind on blog visits and comments because I spent three days earlier this week on the road with a client. I know. It’s shocking. I not only left the house in grown-up clothes, but I got on a plane (several actually) and went away again. Here is what I’ve learned about the pups based on this absence and the BlogPaws one last month.
Last week over on my Dog Food Dish blog, I wrote about the unique needs of large-breed puppies when it comes to feeding and puppy food formulas. The veterinary nutritionist I interviewed said that he considers any dog 55 pound or more (as an adult) a large-breed dog. That knocked my socks off.
Other than a brief stint in Arizona around age 5, right before my parents divorced, I’ve lived in Colorado. The cold? I’m used to it (mostly). And, yet, this winter loomed particularly chilly and simply will not quit. So, seriously, Spring? You coming any time soon?
