Sometimes I wish that I could rewind the live action of my life and examine the situation better. I figure it would work just like Dartfish, that video software so many people use to evaluate their runs. When Lilly reacts, I could rewind and look for hints, causes and solutions. And, maybe more importantly, when she doesn’t react, I could look for clues about why.
I’d like to think it’s because the meds and training are working. Or, that I’m getting better at instinctually moving, doing and saying the right things to help Lilly cope, but honestly, I’m not sure. Are my reflexes getting better? Is she gaining more confidence? Are we simply doing better as a team after nearly 3 years together?
I’d also love to freeze certain moments for posterity. There are so many times that she’s so cute I can hardly stand it, but there’s no camera around. Or, worse, if there is, I point it at her, and she stops doing whatever I was trying to capture. Where’s the ham when I need her?
I always thought that having a camera function on a cell phone was silly, but lately, I find myself wishing my phone had one. I’m loathe to carry around our good digital camera when we’re training or running around town. Maybe the solution is to buy a cheapy digital camera (small as possible) and keep that in our training bag.
