FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

July 6, 2011

best dog blog champion of my heartM’wah! Lilly and I offer our biggest THANK YOU to everyone who nominated Champion of My as Best Dog Blog in the 2012 Petties (DogTime Media Pet Blog Awards). We made the finals! So, once again, we need your help (and your votes)! Here’s how.

Voting ends Friday, July 29, 2011.

How to Vote Champion of My Heart as Best Dog Blog

1. Go to the DogTime Media Petties Page (use this URL of the link doesn’t work http://dogtime.com/petties.html).

2. Click on the little button next to Champion of My Heart in the Best Dog Blog Category (left-hand column, second block).

3. Select your choices in the other categories, if you’d like. (Our suggestions below. You do NOT have to vote in every category).

4. Click the VOTE button at the bottom , and you’re done.

If you do NOT see the VOTE button, hold down your SHIFT key and click on your page reload icon. That forces the page to dump your cache and use the most recent version of the page available.

UPDATE ON VOTING RULES (7/6/11 @ 11:30 am)

Unlike in 2010, when you could only vote once per email address, this year you can vote every day … just not excessively. According to DogTime’s Chrstina Kwan, “We aren’t capturing email like we were in the nominations phase. However, my tech team has assured me that there is something in place to prevent someone from sitting at the computer all day long submitting votes. Telling readers to go and vote once or twice a day is fine, but not excessive voting.”

That said, Lilly and I would appreciate:

  • One vote now
  • One vote each day (through July 29), if you are so inclined.

  1. I voted! It seems like there’s so many more cat blogs in the nominations than dog blogs. “Of course!” says my dear Shy cat.

  2. My human and I are so glad to see your blog nominated again for Best Dog Blog! You have our vote, of course! And thanks so much for mentioning my blog in the Best Blog Post category!

  3. Congratulations, Roxanne, and here’s to a big win. And of course, my vote belongs to YOU!

    1. I just updated the post, AC, to include instructions on fixing that problem. I had the same issue yesterday. Hold down your SHIFT key, then click on your page reload icon. This forces your browser to use the most recent version of the page, rather than a cached one.

    1. Thanks, gal. I just got a note from Christina @ DogTime, and apparently the rules are different from what she told me last night. Just got this note:

“I apologize for the misinformation I gave you last night regarding how many times someone can vote. After the page went live yesterday I didn’t get a chance to check with my tech team about how the backend system is capturing the votes so I initially thought you could just submit as many votes as you want since we weren’t asking for email. I was informed this morning that there is something in place to prevent someone from just sitting at the computer all day long and submitting votes. I will be reaching out to all the nominees to make this clear. ”

SO, I’m waiting to hear what the rules are for this year. Stay tuned.

      1. Just got this update. I’ll revise the post accordingly. Thanks, everyone for your help.

        Dear Petties Nominees,

With the nominees being announced late yesterday and voting already in the full swing, I wanted to make sure to let you all know how the voting process works as there was a little bit of confusion. When your readers go to http://www.dogtime.com/petties to cast their vote for who should win in each of the 8 categories, we aren’t capturing email like we were in the nominations phase. However, my tech team has assured me that there is something in place to prevent someone from sitting at the computer all day long submitting votes. Telling readers to go and vote once or twice a day is fine, but not excessive voting. This was already in place when voting opened yesterday evening. I apologize for the confusion.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I’m happy to answer them. Congratulations to you all and good luck!

        Sincerely,
        Christina Kwan
