Remember, my sad bloody Valentine? We’re happy to report that Lilly’s nose now looks like this:
Lilly still snores and snorts at times like her nose isn’t 100%, but it looks and feels so much better.
For so long, when she was oh-so sick, her nose was:
- Hot
- Dry
- Crusty
- Bloody
- Congested
We still sometimes put a little chapstick on it, but we think it has healed nicely.
Quite an improvement from this:
If you are new to our scary story of a rabies vaccine gone horribly wrong, feel free to use the blog post category pull-down menu in the sidebar or this Adverse Vaccine Reaction category link to access all the posts we’ve published since Lilly got very, very sick with meningoencephalomyelitis (inflammation of the brain and lining of the brain and spinal cord) after an adverse reaction to a rabies vaccine given January 23, 2012.
Hi–I have a border collie/aussie mix that is suffering from terrible bloody noses. Wondering what you think ultimately solved your dog’s nose troubles? my dog had a crusty nose previously but it had healed up pretty well before the bleeding started. Thanks for any info–vet care has not yet solved my dog’s trouble so searching for answers/ideas on the net. Thanks!
Sue ~ I will email you privately as well, but nosebleeds in dogs almost ALWAYS mean a sinus tumor. In Lilly’s case, it was caused by terrible vascular inflammation and HIGH blood pressure. She takes blood pressure meds every day now, and she has only had 1 small nosebleed since the few weeks when she had them all the time in early 2012.
Yay! Much better!
Her nose looks so much better! I’m glad to hear that she is improving.
Oh, poor poochie. Glad to see you don’t have to rename Lilly “Rudolph.” 🙂
Wow, it looks great. I’m so glad she’s still improving.
What a pretty nose she has now! Hooray!!!
I’m so glad to hear that Lilly’s improving. Even small things, like a nose that’s healed up, make a big difference.
Oh, my, Roxanne. It does look so much better! Yay for Lilly and her nose!
