It’s likely going to snow again today, but the last 2 days have been almost spring-like (in a real way). So, Monday, I bundled up enough to be comfortable, fired up the laptop and did my best to make serious headway on this week’s looming deadlines. While I typed away and pondered content, structure and pace, Lilly had her own agenda that went a little something like this.

Run wildly from back of the house to the front gate to check out everything that passes by (sometimes bark, sometimes not).

Show mommy stick after stick, twig after twig, even a chunk of bark in an attempt to entice her to play … since she clearly FORGOT to bring out toys.

Steal Ginko’s bed anytime he abandons it, then cause a scene when he tries to reclaim his throne.

Climb in mommy’s lap and deliver a barrage of wet kisses, after taking a good long drink from the nearby bowl.

Sleep in the sun, then move to the shade and harumpf until finding a comfortable spot.

Move back to then sun, then go for a swim in the pond … just in time to drip on mommy as she tries to talk to a client on the phone.

Snack on varieties of scat found in the pasture. Attempt another kissing fit.

Hunt mice and voles in the tall grass, then wipe muddy face on mommy’s jeans.

Consider tugging on laundry hanging on the line until mommy shoots a jaw-dropping version of stink eye.

Sleep some more.

Begin the 4 o’clock hum and pace insistently so that mommy knows it’s nearly, almost, can’t-you-tell it’s time to quit and make dinner.
