I really do NOT mean to be an off-topic Magoo, but I wanted to share these items to give you (my loyal readers) some insight into my career. And, be sure to watch for the Border Collie on the cover of National Lampoon in the music video by Bill Dyszel. The second item explains 5 Myths of Freelancing. It’s written by a writer I “know” through an online community. Her name is Jen Miller.

I think my favorite line from her piece is this:

“This is not a job for the lazy. It’s not even a job for the pull
yourself up by your bootstraps type. It’s a job for the person who
makes her own boots.”

If that doesn’t explain my career work (and my work with Lilly), then I don’t know what does.

About the Author Roxanne Hawn

Trained as a traditional journalist and based in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA, I'm a full-time freelance writer for magazines, websites, and private clients. My areas of specialty include everything in the lifestyles arena, including health and home, personal finance and other consumer interests, relationships and trends, people and business profiles ... and, of course, all things pet related.

I don't just love dogs. I need them in my life. Seriously.

  1. Thanks so much, Lisa, for noticing that retraining article. I worked
hard to find a good breadth of breeds and examples via the Clean Run
yahoo group. Did you notice that one of the case studies was our very
own Julie over at Cedarfield? I’m in the process of scanning some of my
recent articles so that I can post them on my site. But, I’m having PDF
issues now that my new computer uses Vista.

    Stay warm!

  2. That was an interesting read. I have a much better appreciation for what it means to be a freelance writer now.

Hey, while looking through the index of the latest Clean Run the other day I was so excited to see your name next to one of the articles! So, of course it was the first article I turned to. Great piece. As someone who has been procrastinating in retraining an obstacle (Lucy’s frame) I certainly appreciated the advice contained therein. And, in a way it makes me feel less guilty about procrastinating, since in the meantime she’s getting a nice long break from the obstacle which can be a good thing. Nice variety of case studies too.
