FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

April 16, 2009

I don’t watch much TV news, so I cannot say if this as been on local channels, but apparently a 20-year-old woman taped her boyfriend’s dog (Rex) upside down to the refrigerator with his paws bound with ponytail holders on Tuesday. Full story. But, basically reports say she was mad that the dog bit her and that her boyfriend would not get rid of the dog, so she taped him up. Rex is being cared for at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, where we adopted Lilly. They’re asking for donations to help with his care (and others). I know that money is tight all over, but I wanted to at least alert all of you to this case.

According to the e-newsletter I just got from the shelter:

Rex was in severe pain and traumatized. The perpetrator of the offense was
arrested and now faces charges of animal cruelty.

“Rex is doing better physically but he is
frightened,” said Lisa Pedersen, CEO of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
“Our behavior and medical team is working to help him rebuild his trust in
people. We want to thank everyone in the community for their outpouring of
support for Rex, and voicing their concern for animal abuse.”

Because the case is ongoing, we are unable to
forecast at this time if or when Rex will become available for adoption. Make a
donation to help us assist animals like Rex who are victims of abuse.

This kind of stuff makes me sick. Rotten people!

  1. This makes my stomach hurt! A judge in South Carolina sentenced a man to 18 months in prison (not jail) for abusing a little Yorkie. I called the judge and thanked him…he was very gracious about my concern. What is wrong with some people??

  2. Did you know that every semester hundreds of college students around the country just abandon their dogs and cats? It is a tragic and totally irresponsible action…and these people are our future.
