FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

November 8, 2010

The $500 donation is one of the biggest reasons I hoped to win the DogTime Media Best Dog Blog Award. It took some doing to work out the details, but I had the chance to celebrate the donation that YOU made possible last Friday. Thanks, again, for your votes!!

This bonus $500 helped the Never Shock a Puppy coalition reach its goal of raising more than $2,500 for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

Lindsay Wood (and Lyra), Roxanne Hawn, Lisa Pedersen

I cannot thank Kim Sporrer from Boulder Humane and Nicole Daute from DogTime for working out the details that made the donation possible.

I had hoped to turn my visit up to Boulder into a little event, including lunch with friends, but real life intervened … and I had to make a mad dash across town as soon as we snapped these photos. (That’s why Lilly isn’t in the picture.)

Still, MANY thanks to Lindsay (director of training) and Lisa (the CEO) for the photo opp. It is not often that a highly budgeted girl like me gets to make a donation that warrants such a fuss.

I’m so pleased to have finally met Lindsay’s dog Lyra, who like Lilly is fine with people but not too fond of other dogs getting too close. She is a super sweet girl for putting up with us and the brutal sun glare.

It gets even better, though.

Dr. V from Pawcurious, who won the award for Best Pet Blogger, also donated her $500 prize to Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

So, we snapped a photo of that too. Lindsay couldn’t keep her eyes open any longer in the sun … and as you can see … neither could sweet Lyra. (Seriously, it was BRIGHT out that day.)

Lisa Pedersen and Lyra accepting Dr. V's donation.

In case you haven’t heard, Dr. V is doing another 24-hour blogathon November 13. Honestly, you just NEVER know what she’ll do to raise money for pet charities. Check it out this weekend.

A Thousand Times, Thanks

I cannot thank all our readers and supporters enough for making so many things possible. This $500 donation is just the start … or so we hope.

  1. Fantastic, Roxanne! Thanks to you and Dr. V for donating your prize money to such a deserving shelter! The pics are great; thanks sharing the story.
