Goodness help me, dear readers. I’ll be undertaking a monster blog redesign and platform shift in the coming weeks/months. I had hoped to spend the last 2 weeks of the year fiddling around with the effort, but other matters have taken over my time allotment. I wanted to let you know that it could be really neat (and likely scary and frustrating for me), but I look forward to having a new, more polished look, feel and functionality for the blog.
I hope to figure it all out myself, including moving all the media files (photos, video, and audio files), but we’ll see. I may end up having to pay for some help.
I’m moving from GoDaddy Quick Blogcast to WordPress (the higher end version). The blog address will remain the same, even after all the changes.
For now, I’m tinkering on a temporary URL. And, it’s s-l-o-w going.
So, I just wanted to warn you that there may be some spotty posting, as I make the transition. For me, it makes sense to get the new design looking and working the way I want BEFORE I switch over all the posts and media. BUT, I’ve talked to techie types who say doing the opposite makes more sense, so we’ll see.
When I’m done, I hope to have something prettier like so many of my writer pals have:
Can’t wait to see how this goes. I’m not making money from my blog so I can’t see spending money on it but I would love to figure out how to widen the area for my posts and photos, change my title bar, and come up with a cleaner background that doesn’t distract from the posts themselves. Good luck!
Ha! I didn’t realize I’d picked only foodie sites. They are pretty, though. Aren’t they?
And, yes … rest assured. Lilly will ALWAYS be the canine protagonist of our little life story.
Good luck. I wish I could offer my help, but I have a guy who does all my work for me. I’m such a luddite.
Funny that all your examples are great food sites! Hope Lilly remains the centerpoint, but I also know you’ll do a great job. You have a wonderful sense of design, style, and writing ability. Can’t wait to see!
Wow, good luck with the redesign! I can’t wait to see what you and Lily come up with! Happy New Year, Roxanne – Jen
I do hope we’ll still see Lilly’s smiling face on the new layout. Good luck – sounds like it’s going to be a lot of work!
Thanks for the mention! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your new look.
Good luck! That’s painstaking work!
