We don’t really know when Lilly was born. Sometime in spring 2004. But, we do know when Ginko was born, so we pretend like both have the same birthday — May 13. Today, Ginko is 8, and Lilly is 4. I can’t believe it.
We don’t usually play Brady Bunch photo-op on the stairs, so they both look a bit confused. Ginko sits side-saddle like this all the time because of his bad knees, but I posed Lilly to match. I’m actually shocked that she stayed put.
I bought Lilly a Canine Genius a couple weeks ago, thinking it could be her birthday present, but Ginko has co-opted it. He LOVES this thing. On the one side and the bottom, there are openings treats come out of. You stuff it with kibble, or whatever, and they try to get the food out. Consider it an advanced Kong. They are designed to hook together to make even more difficult food puzzles, but at $20 a pop for the large ones, that seems a bit steep to me. So, we only have one. And, it’s bubble gum pink because I bought it for Lilly.
Ginko is so obsessed with it that he carries it around like his most valuable possession. He even sleeps with his arms wrapped around it … like a drunk with his bottle. We’ve started calling it his “Hooch.” He gets a bit protective of it, so I control his access when he gets crabby, but the other night, he forgot I’d taken it away. Something startled him awake, and he flew into a panic trying to find it.
Honestly, neither of them needs any more toys. And, I did bake those yummy biscotti as their birthday treats, but I still would like to get Lilly something. Then, again, I did drop $80 on that fancy-ass collar and leash recently.
If there’s a toy or something that Lilly absolutely needs, please let me know.
Otherwise, Happy Birthday to my two wild monkeys. I’d be lost without you!!!!
