If you have anyone in your house who is at all sensitive allergy-wise, DO NOT switch laundry detergent willy-nilly. I bought some Gain recently because it was on sale, and I practically poisoned Tom. He was sick for three solid days (over last weekend). He couldn’t breath. His eyes were bright red. He sneezed and sneezed and sneezed. Unfortunately, I’d done a whole day’s laundry while he was gone on Saturday. It wasn’t until Sunday morning we figured out the cause.

I had to rewash everything (sheets, towels, clothes) with our usual brand several times to get the smell out. And, I didn’t even use full scoops of the Gain in the first place because it smelled so strong when I opened the box.

Still even with rewashing everything and airing the house out, it took a couple more days before he felt even close to normal.

If it seemed strong to us, imagine how the dogs felt.

Bad mommy!

Lilly, however, took on the crisis like a champ. She stayed right by Tom’s side, snuggled with him in bed, and kept a close watch on him until he could breath easier again.
