In part 2 of our year in review, you can see how well and how quickly Lilly’s first recovery went. Remember, at this point we assume Lilly will get better steadily and fully recover. Check out these pictures and video, and you’ll see why we were lulled into a sense of security.

March 7, 2012

Because Lilly was NOT incontinent at this point, she was allowed to sleep on our bed. Here she snuggles on a cold / frosty day.

Lilly had just been swimming in our pond. This photo broke my heart because it was so clear the toll the illness had taken. It shows in her face.

June 2012

Lilly had returned to full stamina. She could walk 3 miles up the road. She could take real hikes (under 2 hours). I took advantage of her renewed health and strength with photos documenting her outdoor adventures.

July 2012

Over the summer, we instituted Silly Lilly Saturdays, where my baby girl and I hung out all day long … often outside on our tiny patch of real lawn.

Lilly suddenly and for no apparent reason became completely incontinent at the end of June, so letting her be outside supervised was an easy way to avoid indoor potty accidents.

While the total incontinence came as a surprise, we still believed at this point in summer 2012 that things would be OK. We assumed the incontinence would resolve as quickly as it appeared. That was 7 months ago, and it has NOT abated one bit.

Tomorrow, we’ll document Lilly’s massive, massive relapse in August 2012, where truly … we nearly lost her … again.
