Tired Dogs: The Katie Visits Edition

My deadline-soaked and worry-filled pace continues, but two days last week I felt less like my head would explode. Decent weather meant I could write outside, so I ran up and grabbed Katie (Lilly’s best, best friend — the borzoi) to visit. I got a remarkable amount done those days, despite having three goofball dogs racing around all … day … long.

More than five hours into her visit last Wednesday, all three finally sacked out. Then, a thunderstorm rolled in. I hate the idea of Katie being home alone in a storm, so we packed up our work and toys and came inside.

As you may recall from the February-March saga, where we nearly adopted Katie into our family, having all three of them in the house can be overwhelming. BUT, because they’d been playing nonstop all day, I enjoyed THIS for more than 2 1/2 hours.

{I’m so sad that all the photos for this post got lost in a great blog photo glitch.}

Ginko took the loveseat. Could he be any cuter, sleeping sitting up?

Katie took the sofa.

And, after hiding in her crate until the thunder went away, Lilly slept (as usual) under my desk.

Peace and quiet. Good, tired dogs.

Friday, I brought Katie down to visit again. I worked outside most of the morning, but I had to come in for a conference call around lunchtime. More than an hour later, this is what I found.

The girls hanging out in the shade on the real grass. (I snuck this shot through the window.)

I got to see the girls playing chase and trading roles on Friday. I’ll try to get some video sometime.

It’s really a hoot when Katie chases Lilly because she’s SO much faster that she often runs right over the top of Lilly. All I hear is Lilly saying OOPH!, then they’re off running again. I guess it’s a good thing Katie is so dainty and slight and that Lilly is such a rough-and-tumble mountain girl.
