FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

September 12, 2007

After having a dalmatian that could not be trusted loose in the house alone until she was about 8 years old, I’ve alwasy been a little leery of leaving the dogs to run free when we’re gone (which isn’t very often since we both work at home so much of the time). But, I had to be out of the office all day yesterday, and Tom was gone in the afternoon. He decided to leave both Ginko and Lilly loose in the house.

Because of the many predators around here, we NEVER leave the dogs outside when we are gone. Never, never, never. But, we don’t want to over crate them either.

So, Tom left them both loose yesterday for about 4 hours. We’ve tried shorter times before, an hour or two. And, we’ll often leave Ginko free in the house when I take Lilly to class, so we know he’s fine.

But, I’m happy to say their home alone time was uneventful. Everyone and everything seemed just fine when he got home.

They were barking a bit at a firewood delivery guy on the land next to us when Tom got home, but since the houses up here are quite far apart, we’re not too worried about a bit of noise.

So, three cheers for Lilly, who was a very good girl home alone.
