The second part of our video interview was more about gathering footage of Lilly playing (or whatever) that they can use (I’m assuming) with audio from me talking about her. Since regular readers know that it’s hard to get Lilly to “play” in public, I decided to go with tricks instead.
When I first arrived, I went ahead and brought her training backpack with me. Her skateboard was poking out. Kevin, the PR guy from NYC, seemed really happy to see that my idea of “tricks” went beyond the usual. He even helped carry in her exercise ball for her ROLL IT.
So, after I answered their questions, we moved the chair out of the way, so that Lilly and I could use the whole lit space. Here’s a recap of the tricks I remembered to have her do:
- Catch her Frisbee (easy tosses)
- Roll it
- Scoot (our semblance of skateboarding)
- Roll over
- Shake, other hand, high 5 (in quick succession)
- Beg with high fives
- Stretch (like stand on hind legs for a hug)
- Dance (pirouette 3 times on hind legs)
- Crawl (sneak across the floor on her belly)
- Under (where she does figure 8s through my legs)
I often use tricks to keep Lilly from feeling scared, so it seemed a better choice than trying to get her to play in a spot-lit area in a dark room with 3 strange men.
Once, while we were doing some beggingwith high 5s, Lilly barked at the camera guy when he got really close
(maybe 2 feet) from her face. But, he backed off and we did it again,
and she was fine.
I also had her howl on cue, which is very cute. I say HELLLOOOO, and she howls. She really gets into it, and throws her head back and wiggles her butt.
I’d like to think such talent ups our chances of being included in the campaign, but I don’t know.
