Dog Drug Drama Continued
After Lilly’s recent wellness exam with her new veterinarian, I had to refill her prescription for chlomipramine, which is an anti-depressant she takes for her fears. We had been paying about $25 for 100 pills. She takes 2 a day. BUT, when I went to pick up her prescription after a meeting last week, the invoice at the new hospital shocked me.
It’s about $60 for 100 pills. So, more than double what we had been paying.
Clearly, I’m budget conscious. I do NOT mind paying for extra time or services, but when it comes to products (especially those available in a generic form), I’m not keen on big markups.
So, I’ve looked online and will likely move the refills to an external pharmacy next time.
I just don’t see how such an old medicine can still cost so much.
The other odd thing is that there is a sticker on the bottle that says another exam is required before refill. I asked about it since she just had an exam a few weeks ago and has been on this med for nearly a year, but the answer I got wasn’t satisfactory. So, we’ll see.
