FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

September 27, 2010

Once upon a time, I got Lilly to put down a baby bunny. She grabbed it on the hill to the west. The only sound I heard? A sort of muffled scream, almost like a bird. From the middle pasture, I hollered DROP IT. And, Lilly did. It remains our best-ever long-distance DROP IT.

Last week, while working away in my office, I heard what sounded like one of the dogs chewing on a rock.

Hoping for the best, I said DROP IT, and the terrible noise stopped.

I rolled away from my desk and popped my head around the corner so see who was doing what. And, there sat Lilly with a peach pit on the floor in front of her.

I’m not sure if the pit came from Tom’s famous “fruit droppings” or from Ginko’s recent penchant for raiding the fruit bowl.

I’m just glad Lilly dropped it before either damaging a tooth or swallowing it.

Do tell … What’s your best or longest distance DROP IT on record?
