FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

June 5, 2009

The relentless pace continues, so I have not a single shred of training news to share. All we did this week was kiss and cuddle because a writer *this* stressed out just needs her puppy-girl. But, I wanted to share a couple things that made me laugh. Considering I spent all of last weekend at the hospital (again) with my mom, getting even a giggle from me is a pretty big deal.

How to Teach Physics to Your Dog
It’s a site about a book by the same name:

How to Teach Physics to Your Dog is a book that
explains quantum mechanics in terms that even a dog can understand — in
fact, the dog does some of the explaining.

Each chapter is built around a conversation between Chad Orzel, a
physics professor at Union College, and his dog Emmy, the Queen of Niskayuna, in which Emmy seizes upon some aspect of quantum mechanics
as a way to obtain doggy goals

  • Using her wave nature to surround
    bunnies
  • Using quantum tunneling to pass through the fence to the
    neighbor’s yard
  • Using quantum teleportation to surprise squirrels in
    the back yard

Each conversation is followed by a more detailed
explanation of the real phenomena at the heart of quantum physics (with
occasional interjections from Emmy).

And, if the main page photo is any indication, the book must be pretty funny.

  1. Oh my goodness! I can’t believe the dog doing squats! What a hoot! Intrigued with the physics book too. I might actually be able to understand it.

  2. LOL, I can’t decide which one is funnier. That is some good training on the squat video. And I know that’s how Marge would react to physics..

    Have a great weekend, Roxanne!
