Author Jeff Pawlecki contacted me a while back, asking me to review his fun book for kids called The Three Terrier Tales on the Farm – Barking Up a New Adventure. He lives on a farm in Ohio, with family that includes people and several species of animals. The book is cute and pretty funny. If you know young readers who like terriers, it’s perfect for their bookshelves!
Since I’m working on a series of kids books about Mr. Stix, I always like seeing how other authors handle dialog, illustrations, and other things. In this case, it looks like Pawlecki hired an outside illustrator. Based on what I’m learning about digital illustration, it seems like maybe the dog illustrations get added to the background graphics as a last step.

Pawlecki also did a video 30-second book trailer about the story behind this fun book for kids.
I’m guessing maybe an AI narrator? Did you see my recent post about how some use AI to help reunite lost pets?
What I Like About the Book
I read a ton as a kid, so I try to remember my younger self when I read the kids books people send me to review. Here’s what I like about The Three Terrier Tails on the Farm – Barking Up a New Adventure.
- Each dog brings a unique perspective and personality.
- It’s funny.
- Their adventure takes a surprising turn. #PlotTwist
- It concludes with a South-Park-esque lesson, so to speak, though not South-Park crass, so don’t worry.

What’s Next?
I typically donate the books I review to the little free library at the animal shelter for which I’m a volunteer dog foster mom. Many of the other onsite volunteers’ families include young readers, so it’s a nice way to pass along the love and fun dog books for kids.
