FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

June 11, 2012

Monster deadlines ate up last week, so I’m just now getting to a post for Monday (6/11) at around 3 pm mountain time. Sorry about that. Here are just a couple reminders and requests, if you’d like to actively support Champion of My Heart’s online presence.

Facebook Fan Page Changes

We’ve worked hard over the years to build our fan base here and on various social media. Recent changes on Facebook mean that our Champion of My Heart Facebook fan page is ONLY seen by a small percentage of our current fans. The stats show that half or less of our fans see even our best posts (pictures, usually).

For $5 per post, I can ensure that all 700+ of our Facebook fans see our posts. There is NO WAY I can afford that, considering that we often post several times a day over there.

So, here is the FREE FIX that we’ve found. If you are a new or existing Facebook fan, please hover over the LIKE button on our Champion of My Heart Facebook fan page and see if the “Show in News Feed” is checked or not.

If not, slide your cursor down to check it, please.

I believe that will ensure that our posts show up in your feed. You can always make sure Facebook knows you really like us by giving our posts a thumbs up or posting a comment once in a while.

Subscribe by Email

You can also ensure that you don’t miss any of our official blog posts here by subscribing by email. Each day, you’ll get an email with the headline, excerpt, and a link to the newest post(s).

To encourage people to visit our blog site so that we can track the traffic, we only publish a portion of the blog posts via RSS. (This also keeps creepy sites from stealing our content verbatim … which has happened in the past.)

After taking the month of May (mostly) off, we lost 3 subscribers last week. I suppose after not hearing from us much for a month that some people felt like 5 emails in a week was too much.

So, if you’d like to help us recover from those losses, we welcome your email subscription.

Help Bloggers / Writers Succeed

All of this really does matter. A lot.

Writers these days have to be their own media machines. If you’d like to learn more about why active participation in our success works, please visit this old post / plea — 7 Best Ways Readers Can Help Bloggers Succeed.

About the Author Roxanne Hawn

Trained as a traditional journalist and based in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA, I'm a full-time freelance writer for magazines, websites, and private clients. My areas of specialty include everything in the lifestyles arena, including health and home, personal finance and other consumer interests, relationships and trends, people and business profiles ... and, of course, all things pet related.

I don't just love dogs. I need them in my life. Seriously.

  1. Ain’t that all the truth! I am so frustrated with blogging and seeing comments dwindle down to nothing. I was reading something today that says all writers have to have a FB fan page and I’m wondering Why? What would be the point when I can’t even do a successful blog? What comments I do get are on the link I place on FB. OK, now I’ve vented. Sorry about that.

  2. I realized that I hadn’t liked you on facebook, so I rectified that.

I have your blog in my google reader, is that ok?
