I first blogged about the new German Wirehaired Pointer in town back in April. We’ve indeed taken some side-by-side walks over the months, but we still haven’t really had the time or felt they girls were ready to play together off-leash. BUT, I got to hang out at her house a bit last week and wanted to share these photos.

Joelle (or Joie, as she is mostly called) has gone from this …

To this … (her mustache and beard are a hoot!)

And from this …

To this … (that’s a black Kong stuffed with bananas and carrots she has)

Joelle weighs about 55 pounds these days and has been through two puppy training classes down in Golden. She frequently goes to doggy daycare at the daycare/kennel we looked at last fall, where the dogs pretty much spend all day playing with other dogs. Great for Joie. Not so much for Lilly and Ginko.

They have a live online puppy play cam at this place, but I haven’t had time to watch the pool parties they have many afternoons. I’m told Joie thinks that’s pretty funny.

I had a good laugh, after shunning her for jumping up. I asked her to SIT, then I asked for DOWN, and she immediately flipped herself into ROLLOVER. Who doesn’t want to see a puppy throwing behaviors?

We played a little tug. Watch your hands!

And, I sat on the floor with her while she played with her Kong.

Joie is definitely in that gangly, wild (almost) adolescent phase, but she is a terrific, very social girl.

I’m not sure she and Lilly will ever be more than walking buddies, but it was fun to hang out for just a bit with a puppy since I’m having such puppy envy. (Several more friends have gotten new puppies recently. So jealous!)
