A lack of attention and concentration resulted in a comedy of errors, involving laundry, a game of fetch, and a somewhat famous border collie girl who spins when she gets excited.
The result? Headache.
We’ve already established that current survival strategies include fitting in training and/or play in nooks and crannies of my day.
In that spirit, I bent down to pick up a stick Lilly had offered. I did it quickly between pinning laundry onto the clothesline outside.
My spacial acuity clearly off, I placed my Mommy melon right in the orbit of Lilly’s excitement spins.
She caught me full on in the side of the head with her muscular behind.
It felt a bit like getting walloped by a fur-covered wrecking ball.
It wasn’t so much the pain, but the shock of the impact that got me. You know those times when it hurts, but all you can do is laugh?
That’s what happened because a) I felt like a total knucklehead and b) Lilly kept spinning like nothing had happened.
I’m fine. Lilly is too.
Just one of those things that can happen when my focus is just a tiny bit off. Chalk it up as a multi-tasking injury. You’ve been warned.
Well, KB … normally my sensitive girl WOULD stop spinning, but I believe the fact that I laughed instead of cried told her that everything was mostly OK.
Who ever thought you had to watch out for spinning dogs?!
Sadly, I can raise my hand – a number of times – from the injuries inadvertently caused by my dogs. Including a black eye from a paw slap during a play game. Try explaining to co-workers that you got decked by a right hook from your dog.
The very funny part was that sensitive Lilly kept spinning!
Glad that you’re OK. Years ago, I leaned down as one of my dogs whipped her head upward from the ground to look at me. The resulting smash chipped a tooth!
