FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

May 14, 2008

OK. So, it’s not like it matters to me really. However, Lilly and I are sans schwag, completely without. Our invitation to take part in that videotaped interview recently included a promise of stuff. That’s totally NOT why we did it. But, it was promised and not delivered, which I find a bit amusing considering how such media machinations typically work.

I believe that a huge part of navigating through life is managing expectations. It’s a lot like dog training. You train scenarios so that dogs know what to expect. If I do this, then that happens. As handlers, we make all sorts of promises to our dogs, through training and accidentally. Usually, if Lilly is bugging me, it’s because I’ve accidentally taught her that one thing or another works to get my attention, that last bit of toast, whatever.

When I got home and realized the absence of schwag, it made me wonder … are there things Lilly expects that I also do not deliver?

I sure hope not, but I’d best dial in and make sure because she notices everything.
