We are so grateful for all the support we got during Never Shock a Puppy, so we’re paying it forward to the blogger elves behind the big, annual Santa Paws Drive. Think of it as “Toys for Tots,” where the tots are dogs and cats spending the holiday season in a shelter.

We’ve nearly run out of BlogPaws Schwag to review. Thank goodness, though, we got this Hartz DuraPlay ball. It’s Lilly’s favorite ball, and we thought they were no longer making it because we haven’t been able to find one in local stores, and my emergency stash is depleted.

Here’s a confession. Once upon a time (many, many years ago), I nearly made an impulse buy at a local Petco. The store had a tiny, round dog bed full of baby ferrets. Nearly impossible to resist, all curled up like furry noodles, with pointy and eager faces, I came very close to caving in.

The experience of winning the DogTime 2010 Best Dog Blog Award at BlogPaws West this weekend still astounds me. I may have managed NOT to cry on the podium, but I’ve been pretty weepy ever since.
I didn’t want to get my hopes up, and I’d convinced myself another nominee was unbeatable. Many thanks to my dog food blog collaborator and friend Anthony Holloway, from K9Cuisine.com, who told me at dinner Friday night that if they knew the outcome, they wouldn’t hold the contest. I guess that’s something he has told the little league teams he coaches for years. You can read his version of this conversation on his CEO Blog today.

I have no clue! We find out at lunch today if we won that DogTime Best Dog Blog Award. Honestly, we don’t expect to win because one of our fellow nominees has a HUGE online and social media presence (and a bazillion followers). Still, they told all of us to prepare a little acceptance speech, and we had to sign video waivers because the whole thing will be filmed. So we’ll see.

We’re begging for nominations! DogTime will give away the “Petties” (pet blogger awards) at BlogPaws West in Denver, Sept 9-11. The prizes are pretty sweet.
