I keep this photo of Ginko from summer 2000 in a frame in my office. I still marvel at how this tiny boy turned into my big handsome dog-man. I guess the size of his feet should have clued us in.
I took this photo the day he came home from the hospital after almost dying of Parvo. He’s about 10 weeks old in the shot. You can still see the shaved part on his right front leg, where his IV was.
At the time, we had no idea what mix of breeds he was … other than lab + something. Only after his BUTT developed did we realize the other half was greyhound. Look at that long rudder of a tail!
Sometimes I wish puppyhood lasted longer, but then I remember how much work very young dogs are. It’s probably a good thing we forget all that when it’s time to find a new family member.
He’s a beautiful dog. I love his adult photo just as much as his puppy one.
Sorry. He *was* really cute as a pup. Those ears got bigger and bigger and bigger. At one point, when he was about 9 months old, it looked like he had 2 satellite dishes on his head. When they got so heavy the began flopping over, it often looked like he was wearing a poker visor. Cracked us up.
You’ve got to stop with the cuteness! Your making me want to get a new dog.
