I buy very little music, but I’ve found “Babel,” the recent album from Mumford & Sons, to be an apt soundtrack for my life. While the full context of the songs might not match my life with Lilly, many of the hunks of lyrics do. Here are a few examples.
We’ve already made “I will wait” our anthem, of sorts. [Links to video f the song being performed at Red Rocks.]
But, here are a few other snippets of lyrics that really resonate with me as I muddle my way through Lilly’s big brain scare, even if I see them in a light other than intended.
***
And I’ll still believe
Though there’s cracks you’ll see
When I’m on my knees
I’ll still believe
And, when I’ve hit the ground
Neither lost nor found
If you believe in me
I’ll still believe
[From “Holland Road”]
***
So give me hope in the darkness
That I will see the light
Cos oh they gave me such a fright
But I will hold on with all of my might
Just promise me we’ll be alright
[From Ghosts That We Knew]
***
So when your hope’s on fire
But you know your desire
Don’t hold a glass over the flame
Don’t let your heart grow cold
I will call you buy name
I will share your road
[From Hopeless Wanderer]
There are a couple more examples from their first album, but I fear this post will get WAY too sappy, so we’ll save those for another day.
Thanks to all of you for sharing our road and for believing on our behalf when our cracks get too great.
Oh my goodness, mumford and sons is just the same for me and my collie. That is quite spooky. It really is great music but great words too.
Here’s to very tiny cracks…if cracks at all. Happy Thursday to you and Lilly!
