FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

March 4, 2011

We first met our previously online-only friends from GoPetFriendly.com (pet travel, made easy) on a hike last fall, when they visited Colorado before BlogPaws West. Thanks to an RV travel show in Denver this week, we enjoyed another outing together.

Last time, I left Lilly home because of her fear issues with other dogs and because their German shepherd Buster loves other dogs less when he is on leash.

This time, Lilly got her chance to have an outing to herself. As Ty (a sharpei) and Buster stayed in the GoPetFriendly.com RV at the campground in Golden, while Lilly gave Rod and Amy a tour of her “hometown,” where we:

  • Walked much of our usual loop along Clear Creek (even though it was a little chilly and windy)
  • Strolled along main street, including stops at a couple pet-friendly stores
  • Shared our favorite ways to train in public, including using empty, fenced tennis courts

Lilly clamped her tail tight to her tummy a few times in higher-traffic, noisier areas of town, but she did great … meeting new people, going into a clothing store, and waiting nicely while Rod did a little shoe shopping.

On Monday, the day after our shopping excursion, Rod & Amy where nice enough to invite me to tour KONG headquarters (which happens to be in our hometown of Golden, CO) with them. Our KONG hosts gave me a few products to try out, so stay tuned for upcoming product reviews.

I don't just love dogs. I need them in my life. Seriously.

  1. I’m just marveling at a clothing store that allows dogs inside. I so wish I could walk to town with Java and do my errands. I’m not trusting enough to tie her to a sign post while I go in somewhere. I’ll be using Pet Friendly in the near future for road trip plans.

    1. Well, Maery. It’s an “outdoor clothing store,” but there are several others on “main street” in Golden that allow dogs, including a couple regular clothing stores, a bike store, etc. I’ve never tried the fancy lingerie store or the art galleries or the antique shops, but I’m guessing they don’t allow dogs. :o)

  2. Love Gopetfriendly.com; use them all the time to find dog-friendly hotels. Great to hear you know them and can’t wait to hear about the new KONG products!

  3. We were so grateful to you and Lilly for showing us around Golden – and it was wonderful to get to meet the fantastic Lilly in person! Thanks so much.

** Hi Diane and Cosmo **

    1. Yes, I’m always glad when Rod and Amy are in CO. I’m going to help staff their booth at an RV show in Denver Saturday, so I’ll get to wear my GoPetFriendly.com T-shirt and help spread the word.

As for the wobbler, I’m happy to report that they make a smaller one now, for smaller dogs. I bet it’d be the perfect size for Cosmo.
