FREE e-book "8 Things to Know About Veterinary Care"

October 7, 2010

Before I ever saw this alligator in person, I named it one of my top dog toy picks for 2009 holiday gift giving because the idea of ONE toy having 16 squeakers cracks me up. Even the tag says, “This toy may drive you crazy, but your dog will love it!”

Lilly indeed LOVES this gator toy … so much so that she plays keep-away with it (as you can see in the video below) and she guards it by pinning it down with her chin. It’s a move we’ve always called “being a gator girl,” so I’m pleased to introduce another video product review.

We’re trying to keep this toy “nice” for a while, so we do not leave it laying around. We ONLY bring it out when we’re around to supervise its use.

This gift from Kyjen.com was indeed free and in my BlogPaws Schwag bag. I’m under no obligation to post this. I just wanted to.

About the Author Roxanne Hawn

Trained as a traditional journalist and based in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA, I'm a full-time freelance writer for magazines, websites, and private clients. My areas of specialty include everything in the lifestyles arena, including health and home, personal finance and other consumer interests, relationships and trends, people and business profiles ... and, of course, all things pet related.

I don't just love dogs. I need them in my life. Seriously.

  1. We have a rule in our house that the toys that drive the humans crazy are not allowed past the threshold. We used to have them all. Four kids and too many headaches later, we now have a moratorium on squeaky toys. But if your dog LOVES it and can play with it while he’s OUTSIDE and you’re inside…

  2. Ty and Buster love their squeaker alligators from the BlogPaws schwag bag. Of course, they always want the alligator that the other one has! But the most fun has been watching such coveting escalate into one having the alligator by the head and the other by the tail and the ensuing tug of war.

  3. I got one of these at BlogPaws too but it’s longer than my dog, who couldn’t decide whether or not he liked it or not. Hmmmm — I see a giveaway in the future….

  4. It looks like a great toy… but maybe not tough enough for my destroyer labs. They shred really soft toys in the blink of an eye, even when we’re supervising…

We now only buy ToughChew toys…

    1. They broke the seam on his head last night playing tug-o-war, but I’ll just sew him up. The toy is so long, that both of them were chewing on and sweaking one end of the toy. Ginko had the head. Lilly had the tail, and they were just laying side by side squeaking away. It was super sweet.

  5. I have the Kyjen Hide A Squirrel but unfortunately my 10 week old puppy was able to rip the seams on the squirrel’s within a week.

He did however love the toy.
