Typically, Lilly can tell from my morning routine whether or NOT I have time for a long walk. Sure, I’ve accidentally fooled her before, as told in Signs Point to Yes, but usually she knows or at least waits (somewhat) patiently until she has enough information. This process, including how she can guilt me into walking even when I’m short on time, inspired this story told in photos from Saturday morning.
Great post! It reminds me of how my dog follows me around or stares intently at me, depending on what he wants. Like Dino said, thanks for the laugh!
Dogs are not easy to fool at all. Plus they have a great arsenal of ways to make us do things 🙂
I do have to say that walks are religion in our house. Regular walks are regular walks and they happen no matter what.
If we don’t go for a regular walk it only means we are going to be hanging out outside all day.
Mostly every weekend they get to go to friends’ horse farm for full days. They know the signs. Or they know the calendar. Or both. Couple times hubby had to go there but couldn’t take them along. He tried faking the entire “I’m going to work today” routine to no avail. Guys were very pouty because the KNEW where he was going and he didn’t take them along! Wassup with that??
I’m sure your dogs love you for the routine, Jana. We try very hard around here, but the last year has been non-stop family medical dramas on numerous fronts. So, between work, and eldercare, and normal grown-up things … there are days when there isn’t a moment to spare.
A happy face, indeed!
